The Festival Players Theatre Company
The Festival Players Theatre Company has grown over the last fourteen years from a small company of professional actors who performed for the Three Choirs Festival into an international touring company. It is probably best known for the summer productions of Shakespeare's comedies which tour to some of the country's most beautiful castles and historic houses including the National Trust's Montacute House, Leighton Hall, Westonbirt Aboretum and Castle Cornet, Guernsey. In 1994 they were awarded the Best Drama Award at the Buxton Festival.

In 1996 they expanded their programme into Autumn with an evening of Irish plays, Scents of the Irish, followed in the Spring of 1997 by a new work by the local playwright Frank Hatt, Not In My Back Yard. Both productions toured to arts centres and village halls in the Gloucestershire area.

1997 saw the release of the first cassette of the Shakespeare songs all written by the Musical Director Johnny Coppin. This was a selection from the last six plays and was greeted with enthusiasm by Shakespeare fans and fans of Johnny's music.

Every year they help raise funds for many charities including Farms for City Children, The Willow Trust, Langford Trust For Animal Health & Welfare and the Leukaemia and Intensive Therapy Trust. In the recent past they have actively sought to take their production into schools, offering either workshops or the current show at greatly reduced rates. Sponsorship for this very important work is always welcome.
